This year we are so grateful that it is spring! We are not exactly sure why because we had a fairly mild winter here in upstate New York, perhaps it is simply to have more daylight and along with the beauty of many flowers blooming. We are also especially grateful for you, our long time Scull-Craft Calendar customer. Thanks for your annual orders and lovely notes regarding this special calendar. In the 2026 Calendar there is only one day marked March 29th! We checked it three times! We are so sorry for that error in the 2025 calendar.

As a child I was curious about the history of various Holidays; my parents gave me the book “Red Letter Days” that I still have. Here are some fun tidbits about Flag Day, June, 14th, concerning Flag Firsts:

  • First Salute accorded the Stars and Stripes by another nation was by France when Captain John Paul Jones shipped at a French port on the Ranger, February 14, 1778.
  • Stars and Stripes was first admitted on equality with flags of other nations on September 3. 1783.
  • First American flag to fly over a schoolhouse was in 1813, at the small log schoolhouse in Catamount Hills, Massachusetts.
  • First Flag day observance was June 14, 1877.
  • First Flag Day observed by schools was in the Philadelphia Public Schools in 1893.
  • First Flag Day Association was formed in Chicago in 1894.
  • First National Conference on the display and respect of the flag met on Flag Day in Washington in 1919.

Speaking of June 14th, that is the date when we plan on having the 2026 Scull-Craft calendar ready to ship. Enclosed is our order form, or you can order by phone or online.

As always, we appreciate your loyalty in choosing this calendar year after year. We are so happy that we can still provide it.

All our best,
Allison & Joel
